[ Description of item ]This salt is made from 100% seawater. It is made using the traditional Japanese method of using salt fields and flat kettles that utilize natural energy such as solar heat and wind power. In 1972, salt fields disappeared from Japan, and all domestic salt production was switched to ion exchange. "Umi no Sei Arashio" is a traditional Japanese sea salt that was revived by consumers who wanted traditional salt. It is produced on Izu Oshima, a remote island surrounded by beautiful nature. The raw material is 100% pure seawater carried by the Kuroshio Current. No other raw salt is used. The manufacturing method is the traditional Japanese method that utilizes the power of the sun, wind and fire. Seawater is concentrated in a salt field with a floating net, and the salt is crystallized in a steam flat kettles.
The ingredients include not only sodium chloride, but also small trace amounts of elements essential for life such as magnesium, calcium and potassium. The taste is not just salty, but also has a subtle sweetness, umami, richness and sharpness.
